Rod Roodenburg received a Fine Arts Diploma from Vancouver Community College in 1985, and went on to earn a Graphic Design Diploma from Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in 1988. Rod co-founded Ion Branding + Design with partner David Coates in 1988. Rod has earned numerous design awards in all categories from print to interactive media including Lotus, Graphex and numerous international design awards. Articles and features on the company have appeared in CA, Print, Applied Arts, Step-by-Step, Studio, How Magazine, Business in Vancouver, Design Edge, Shanghai and others.
